On Matt DeBenedetto’s car, the names of 60 fallen service members are displayed. They include GySgt Ronald E. Baum, who was killed in action on May 3, 2004, while trying to save six soldiers and a fellow Marine in Iraq.
In an Associated Press story after Baum’s burial in Pennsylvania, his company commander said Baum was “tough as nails, disciplined, compassionate. He helped make the world a batter place. Ron lived life to the fullest. He died while leading men in battle.”
