MORE: What time does NFL Draft start today?
Wirfs on Thursday had his mother walk the red carpet — similar to one she might have walked had the draft taken place in Las Vegas — through their front lawn. Wirfs waited at the end of the carpet to hand her flowers.
It’s a wonderful gesture, one made even better knowing Wirfs lived in a trailer park until he was 5. The Wirfses likely won’t live in a trailer park after Tristan was selected with the 13th overall pick in the draft by the Bucs — Tampa Bay thought so highly of him they traded up one spot in order to secure him — but it’s great seeing he hasn’t forgotten where he came from, or who was there with him along the journey.
