Professor Laurence Tribe tweeted his prediction Friday morning following a Washington Post article reporting that the U.S. Justice Department recently issued dozens more subpoenas investigating events leading up to and during the U.S. Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. The subpoenas target more than 100 people and request information regarding intentions to block Joe Biden from becoming president early last year. Tribe anticipates that will lead to Trump’s allies negotiating plea deals, resulting in legal trouble for Trump....

The target thus far has been Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, whose successful first term running the Sunshine State has made him a conservative hero and led to a historic landslide reelection victory. He was already in the conversation for 2024, but the scope of his epic triumph on Tuesday may have made it inevitable that the governor will enter the 2024 fray. Maggie Haberman, a White House correspondent for The New York Times and a political analyst for CNN, tweeted Wednesday morning that the former president was “furious” with Melania and described her encouragement for supporting Oz as not her finest decision. Haberman, who recently published a book about Trump and his time in the Oval Office, attributed the information to people close to the former president. According to a report by the Associated Press, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn sent a subpoena to Trump’s inaugural committee seeking records pertaining to 20 people and businesses all connected with Elliott Broidy. Broidy helped Trump attain funds during the 2016 campaign and later served as the vice chair of the inaugural committee. Investigators are looking into whether Broidy exploited his relationship with the president to benefit his global security firm Circinus....

Rocky, a police K-9, passed away on November 8 after being diagnosed with a serious illness, Guilderland Police Department said. He was the third canine to serve the force and had joined the police department in 2009. “It is with great sadness that the Guilderland Police Department announce the death of the departments police dog K-9 Rocky,” a spokesperson for the department said on Facebook. “Rocky had recently been diagnosed with a serious illness and passed away on November 8, 2019....

The University of Alabama recently took a ton of flack, from both within and outside the Crimson Tide family, when its Alpha Phi chapter posted a four-minute recruitment video, featuring its members scantily clad while frolicking around all over the Capstone. Alabama running back Kenyan Drake even made a cameo. It was viewed by many as objectifying and sexist. The university wound up apologizing for it.
