Meanwhile, the total fundraising of the top Democratic contenders combined together outpaced Trump. But whether the flow of cash will continue after the party works to unify behind one candidate following the Democratic National Convention in July remains to be seen....

A Manhattan jury on Tuesday found the Trump Organization guilty on all 17 counts related to tax fraud, conspiracy and falsifying business records. In a statement titled “Manhattan Witch Hunt!” and posted to Truth Social a short time later, the former president said that he was “disappointed” by the verdict, while maintaining that the organization was the victim of a “political witch hunt.” Trump himself did not face any charges in the case, although prosecutors said that he “knew exactly what was going on” and had taken part in actions that were “explicitly sanctioning tax fraud,” according to the Associated Press....

Charles McGonigal, 54, the former head of counterintelligence for the FBI’s New York office, is accused of secretly working for a U.S.-sanctioned Russian oligarch, Oleg Deripaska, as well as conspiring to commit money laundering. Prosecutors said that McGonigal is alleged to have tried to help Deripaska get off the sanctions list after leaving the FBI in 2018. He is also alleged to have taken money off the Russian billionaire in 2019 in order to investigate a rival oligarch....

A minority faction of Republican lawmakers have expressed staunch opposition against Trump in the wake of the January 6 assault by the former president’s supporters against the U.S. capitol. Although some analysts have described this as a “civil war” within the GOP, most Republicans in Congress have aligned themselves with Trump as have most Republican voters, according to multiple polls. Surveys have repeatedly shown that the former president continues to be the dominant political force among GOP voters....

The FBI warned in an internal memo reported by CNN on Tuesday that it has information regarding armed demonstrations planned in all 50 states, as well as further demonstrations planned for Washington, D.C. surrounding President-elect Joe Biden’s nomination on January 20. Those demonstrations are planned in the wake of the violent insurrection by pro-Trump rioters at the U.S. Capitol last Wednesday. Five died as a result of the assault, which Democrats and many Republicans believe was incited by Trump....

Talks between Democrats and Republicans concerning the stimulus package ground to a halt in August with the two sides unable to reach common ground. While the Republicans have offered a package worth $1 trillion, the Democrats package carries a $3 trillion price tag. President Trump issued four executive orders for financial relief until lawmakers could reach an agreement on the final bill. Thursday, the U.S. Senate adjourned until September. House Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that if a situation arises where a deal is reached and a vote needs to be taken on a stimulus package, senators will be called back....

Walker’s campaign announced Monday that the Republican candidate has raked in $3.7 million in 37 days—approximately $100,000 per day—from tens of thousands of donors from all states. “We are overwhelmed by the support from nearly 50,000 Americans who love this country and want to help our campaign,” Walker said in a statement. “Though we only had 5 weeks to fundraise this quarter, tens of thousands of Georgians and patriots across the country stepped up to the plate to help us take back the United States Senate....

The poll, which was conducted by Morning Consult, surveyed likely voters in each of the three states from July 24 to August 2. In South Carolina, the poll found 49 percent of respondents saying they’d vote for Trump if the election were today, while 44 percent sided with Biden. The poll surveyed 741 likely voters across South Carolina and has a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points....

Orton asked Triple H to make an announcement and give the WWE title to him. The Game asked Orton to win the Royal Rumble if he wants the WWE Championship. Following that, Triple H talked to Orton about how he set The Fiend on fire and contemplated doing the same to Alexa Bliss as well....

According to the Fiji Meteorological Service, Tropical Cyclone Harold made landfill in the early evening, reaching Espiritu Santo—Vanuatu’s largest island—around 5:00 p.m local time (2:00 a.m. EST) on Monday, April 6.
