The House select committee investigating the pro-Trump attack against the U.S. Capitol —as well as the former president’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results—is holding publicly televised hearings outlining the evidence and witness testimony the probe has compiled. Hundreds of Trump supporters attacked the federal legislative branch of government on January 6 in an apparent effort to disrupt the formal certification of President Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory....

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said in a statement that the impending move will “demonstrate our commitment to preventing the use of U.S. commodities and technologies in activities that undermine our interests.” The Commerce Department announced it plans to act against 24 business entities based in China, Hong Kong or the Cayman Islands—a haven for tax avoidance—that represent a “significant risk” of supporting Chinese military supply chains. The companies include various technology and research firms, such as CloudMinds, based in Beijing, which operates cloud-enabled robotic systems, and Qihoo 360, also in Beijing, which develops antivirus software....

Friedrich, a Trump-appointee, ruled to keep the obstruction charges in the Justice Department’s case against Nathaniel DeGrave and Ronald Sandlin who were charged for allegedly storming the U.S. Capitol to try and stop Congress’ process for certifying the Electoral College vote of President Joe Biden’s presidential win, according to the indictment. DeGrave and Sandlin allegedly broke the law by attempting to stop the proceeding from moving ahead by “engaging in disruptive conduct” and assaulting police officers, the indictment said....

Reports that Cuomo’s administration withheld information regarding nursing home deaths because of politics ignited a fury of criticism.
